I've been using computers for essentially my entire life, and began programming about four years ago. I've learned seven computer languages (and counting). Projects I'm working on often require skills I do not have at that moment, but I can learn quickly.
As I've become better educated over the years, I've strived to strictly adhere to standards and best practices. Just about anything that I've cranked out within the past year that's web-related will pass its respective W3C validator. All of my code is in a uniform and standard syntax, well indented, and fully commented (though I am capable of obfuscating code). I've learned to type with the Dvorak keyboard layout, and now use it primarily.
My name is Jonah Bron Dahlquist. I live in California. I'm universally known as "Jonah Bron" on the internet. My last name is left off because of its unwieldy nature. I've been an active member of the PHP Develeper's Network since March 15, 2007, 3:28 pm (PST). I don't have a Facebook account, but I do have an OpenID. My really awesome computer currently dual-boots the latest revision of Ubuntu, and Windows 7. Ubuntu is my primary operating system, but I keep Windows around for things that require it (like SketchUp).
I don't play computer games. Yes, you heard me correctly. I'm also a Christian, and I was homeschooled while growing up.
My big brother carves leather and makes professional grade saddles. He's an animal person. My little brother takes professional grade photographs. He's a little person. My little sister plays with dolls and is a professional grade "mommy". She's an animal person too.
When I was a little tyke, I wanted to build robots. I would pick up an old rusty piece of scrap iron, and state that it would become an integral component of my creation (actually, it was more like "I'm gonna' use this for my robot"). At ~9, my dad pulled HTML for Dummies off the shelf for me. I tried, but it was just over my head. A couple of years later, he mentioned to me that free HTML courses were available online. I thought that was pretty cool. Back then, I wasn't aware of the vast amount of free information online.
I found one. I wrote myself a few little websites. It was fun. I made some graphics with Corel Draw 8. That was fun, too. By then, I had discovered SketchUp, and one day, on the SketchUp forum, somebody mentioned PHP. That opened up a completely new world to me. Up until that point, I didn't know how browsers worked, how dynamic websites worked, or that servers or Javascript or PHP even existed. My learning began to increase exponentially.
As I said before, according to my account, on March 15, 2007, at 3:28 pm, I discovered the PHP Developer's Network. To this day, I remain an active member there.
As you can see on my portfolio page, I've spent a lot of time learning over the last few years. Many thanks to my dad for keeping me going, and my mom, who does her best to be enthusiastic, despite not having the slightest clue as to what I'm talking about.
